Walmart has inaugurated its fourth out of five next-generation fulfillment centers in Greencastle, Pennsylvania, located 10 miles north of Hagerstown, Maryland. This 1.5 million-square-foot facility will employ over 1,000 workers and aims to enhance next-day or two-day shipping for Walmart customers. It will also support Walmart Fulfillment Services, the company's third-party service for items sold on its marketplace.
“Walmart is creating valuable jobs and career opportunities in the south-central Pennsylvania area with the Greencastle fulfillment center,” stated Karisa Sprague, SVP of Fulfillment Network Operations for Walmart U.S. “These technology-driven positions will advance Walmart's ongoing commitment to fast shipping and delivery for customers on the east coast.”
In June 2022, Walmart announced the initial four next-gen fulfillment centers, and in October 2023, the company disclosed that its fifth next-gen fulfillment center would open in 2026 in Stockton, California.
